Book Review on 'His Majesty's Dragon'

His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik is set in the time of the Napoleonic Wars. But instead of planes, people would strap themselves to dragons.

British Capt. Will Laurence is swept into the world of aviators when, upon taking hold of a French frigate he discovers a dragon egg. Thrust into the world of dragons, Laurence and his dragon Temeraire (I think it's pronounced Tem-er-air) must master the ways of the air to help win the war.

This book is targeted towards young adult and adults. My library puts it under Adult, but I am most definitely not one. Some of the subject matter is more adult suited. If you have a strict parents, let him/her read it first.

I really enjoyed this book. Laurence and Temeraire were great characters. The little details really help the story come alive. The story was interesting with some surprising twists, but some parts were predictable.
4½/ 5 stars. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
